My Favorite Spring Trends 2011

70s glamour
Just as the '50s and '60s are back so are many elements of the '70s. The two main main ideas: '70s bohemian, and '70s sophisticated glamour. When it comes to the looks think dresses that fall like shimmering water in the evening and high-waist pants with elegant blouses by day.

60s Child
The silhouettes of the 1950s and 1960s make a strong return. A hip-hugging sheath dress with a below-the-knee hem, while the full circle skirt and dress remain at the core of the trend.

Lace clothing
Like most trends that span through different season lace has evolved. Lace influences are more to the classic side with quality antique-style fabrics. Less of the allover, stretch lace and more of the unique takes.

Bell bottoms
With skinny pants and jeans now so common that they no longer make a statement it was inevitable that a different style would emerge as a trend. With the come back of all things 1970s it was a no brainier that fashionistas would opt to bell bottoms / flared pants as their go to jeans style this season.

Uploading My Own Outfit Pictures

Today my friend Laycie and I were considering new ideas for FashTish. She brought up the idea of me actually uploading pictures my outfits as new segment to the blog. Now I personally don't believe that my clothing choices are anything amazing but I do try to add my own personal touches to trends here and there. I guess if anyones interested I'll consider the suggestion.

Nude Pumps.

Most woman try constantly to appear more slimmer or taller. Avoiding bold prints and bulky sweaters, were all trying to pull of some type of illusion with our clothing. With spring just beginning to blossom it's time to bring out those legs in springs hottest trends. Nude pumps are a great why give off the look of longer legs. Next to the popular maxi dress worn by stars like Miley Cyrus and Vanessa Hudgens the next hottest trend that's been hitting runways for many season now is the nude heel. You probably already own a killer pair (or four!) of black pumps. Black is classy, goes with everything, and is easy to dress up or down. While black is great, sometimes you just need a little something extra that where your nude shoe comes in handy. Designers like Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin have all given their own little spin to this now must have accessory.

Tips for Buying

Nude heels can work with just about every skin tone but the key ingredient is to make sure they match ! Like makeup, you just have to find a shade that works for you. If you have darker skin, opt for a chocolate, camel, or tan pair instead of basic beige for a complementary match.

The nude you pick should be close to your skin color, but not match exactly as this make your look seem as if your not wearing shoes at all. Textures such as animal prints and patent also help spice up a basic pump.

Breakfast at Tiffany's

Most Audrey Hepburn fan's all time favorite Hepburn classic would be Breakfast at Tiffany's. The main character Holly Golightly is a hot-mess New York socialite and part time escort to rich millionaires from all around the world. Known for her wild antics and fabulous parties and wardrobe you can't help to somehow envy the dark haired beauty. The iconic "little black dress" worn by Hepburn in the opening scene has set the stage for evening wear for the last fifty decades. Designed by designer Givenchy the dress has been imitated several times over.

While reading the original short written by Truman Capote in the mid 1940's I couldn't help but to envy the Holly Golightly. Not only was she beautiful and fashion forward she never made any apologies for who she was or what she did. All though story she always seemed to be someone's damsel in distress but she always did things so stylish and elegantly even if she was spilling a martini all over herself. The confidence she had throughout the book is something that should be imitated along with her stylish black shades and Givenchy "little black dress".
