Celebrity Looks Of The Week

My Obession With Adele

Singer Adele has been on my playlist for some years now but I finally found time to listen to her new album titled 21. Like her previous album before she mixes the sounds and lyrically talent of Bob Dylan with the vocals of the great Etta James. Her strong vocals are what set her apart from other recent divas that have stepped across the pond. Each song on the album is a different sound that tells a wonderful story. Of course she sings of love and heart ache but her latest hit Rolling in the Deep definitely place her here to stay in the U.S for years to come.

Favorite Songs from Adele's 21:
1.Set Fire To The Rain
2.Rumor Has It
3.Someone Like You
4.Rolling In The Deep
5.Love Song

Tradition and A Dress!

Around this time last night billions of people across the world tuned in to watch the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Just as important as the wedding itself the dress was the big reveal of the engagement. For month people had been speculating the design and the creator of the dress. With a surprising choice of Sara Burton of British fashion house Alexander McQueen. McQueen who is known for elaborate designs and silhouettes was a shocking choice do to the simplicity of the gown.

To be quite honest I was very disappointed with the wedding dress. Since their engagement William and Kate's courtship has been referred to as the "new monarchy", meaning that the royal family would be seeing a update for the 22nd century. With hundreds of years of tradition behind her Kate may have felt the pressure to stick to what the British people have seen in royal dresses for years but I personally believe she could have done something better to make the look her own. Known for her clean cut warobe Kate has become one of the biggest fashion icons of the new age but if she were she could made the gown more chic and modern. In a basic description the dress was almost a complete replica of the dress worn by Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco in 1956. As a long tradition the bride is loaned a tiara from the queen and the dress is usually required to not show any cleavage or arms. Personally I think Kate should have modernized the dress requirement by wearing a dress that was short sleeve and small train similar to the one worn by her younger sister Pippa but still keeping the princess look with the tiara and the cartier veil. In my opinion giving the royal family a breathe of fresh air should have started with the wedding dress.

Prom Dresses and Dilemmas etc.

This morning my friend Laycie and i ventured down to the local mall to try on prom dresses. As of last Sunday I was awkwardly pawned off by my church members to go to prom with one of the members beloved grandson. I have never been one for school dances or formal engagements buts with all of the uproar of senior prom I have begun to grow interested. With all the different trends and prints out there I began to become overwhelmed with all the dresses. Will trying to find the perfect I decided to stick with my comfort zone colors (the colors I always go to when I'm in a fashion crunch) black and gray. I figured staying in these shades would make it a lot easier to find a dress and to not be so intimidated by all the tool and sparkles surrounding the store. I didn't end up getting the dress I wanted but decided to keep looking in case something better came along.

Now that spring and summer collections are offically in stores it's a no brainer that girls will be flocking to stores to get the lastest trends. Mostly likely your jeans will be traded in for cut off denim shorts and tank tops. Bright color are in always but to add a little something extra white jeans are cool way to dress up the the vivad shades and bold print seen on the runways. The white denim trends has been seen everywhere on the spring-summer 2011 runways, including at the Jil Sander show, where candy colors managed to look minimal when shown with crisp white shirts or layered with sleek black coats. It use to be that only the bold and beauiful would dare to wear white after the first weekend in September that fashion rule has long been broken. . And, of course, white jeans, like the cropped ones seen from Isabel Marant, can freshen up any outfit. Just remember to factor your cleaning bills into the purchase price

Rules of Color-Blocking

Color-blocking which has been seen on the runways such as Lanvin has become on of the biggest trends of S/S11. Layering bold block colors is a killer statement but can easily go wrong, these are my five easy tips to stay runway ready!

1. Three of kind
Stick to only two or three colors, anymore to this equation will equal a costume. Two is great but three makes fashion forward look.

2. No clashing titans
The normal fashion rules don’t not apply, play with colors that usually wouldn't work like pinks and reds !

3. Keep colors on the same side of the rainbow!
It’s also works great to contrast two curious variations with more of a contrast g color, like pinks and purples against a loud lime green.

4. Boldly Brightened
This trend is all about bold bright colors and works best with the most vivid shades.

5. Plain Jane
The look works best with neutral accessories. Split the color blocks vanilla's, creams, blacks or grey s pursues and shoes.
