Donna Karen Spring 2012

With New York Fashion Week coming to a close many of the hottest looks for this spring have been featured throughout fashion sites. Though much of what was seen on the runways was nothing new designer  Donna Karen did amazing job adding new elements to trends we already love. One of the key pieces in the collection were the one-shouldered dresses. Some in bright hues of purples and greens. Donna did a great job of mixing spring colors with different prints and textures. The biggest hits of the line were several tribal print pieces inspired by Haitian artist Philippe Dodar. My favorite look of the collection were the fencing jackets in black leather.

Hot-mess and Homecoming

Today I got asked to Homecoming by my bud D.J. and for the first time in my four years of high school I'm am actually excited for a school dance. My last two school dance experiences ended with a horrible first kiss and a broken heart. This year going with my D.J. to Homecoming will be more fun because were already good friends and we both can't dance. But then I realized the day of the dance I'll be at UW from 8 to 4pm for the high school business program. Sept. 24th is gonna be hot-mess but keeping my fingers crossed. This Saturday my friend Shannon and I are going dress shopping. Hope all goes well!

Outfits and Inspirations

For about 3 years I've been obsessed with YouTube fashion make-up tutorials. One of the biggest things I enjoy watching is "Outfit of the Day" which is when fashionistas upload outfits and explain the inspirations. I thought this might be fun thing to for FashTish. Please vote on the left if you think its a cool idea. Tomorrow I'm gonna test drive it! Crossing my fingers!!!

Curly and On Que!

Finally being a senior this year I finally feel i'm allowed to be a little more brave with my look. Today was my first day of school and this year I decided to switch it up completely and work my curly hair. Now that i'll am eighteen I've finally gotten this instant boost of confidence. I think the wild hair has made me a little fearless. I like it!

Fashion Moment of The Week! 8/29-9/2

Since 2007 one of my favorite shows has been Keeping Up With the Kardashian's. As of the last few seasons I've noticed Kendall Jenner;s style transformation though most of her attire is jeans shorts, flips flops, and crops tee's. Now that the young starlet is coming into her own as a model she's definitely been stepping up her fashion game. Here's my favorite fashion moment this week of mini Kim modeling prom dresses.

Back To School Fashion

With September here already, it’s time to purchase this year’s school supplies and your back-to-school wardrobe. Living in Seattle, it can be quite difficult to know what one needs for the upcoming school year. Other than an umbrella and a Northface, sometimes it can be hard to incorporate many of the year’s trends with all the extra layers that are usually required for living in Seattle. Luckily for us, this year’s back-to-school fashion trends are wearable in the Northwest.

Layer Under Layer

During Fall and Winter, especially in Seattle, it is a necessity to keep warm. This is where one of the season’s hottest looks, layering, comes in. It’s all about mixing different prints and cozy textures. One of the best ways to rock this trend is buy mixing plaid and knits. Pairing tanks, sweaters, and winter accessories in a variety of ways will keep warm you warm throughout the school day.

Billy’s Jeans

Whether male or female, your back to school shopping is not complete without a pair of black skinny jeans. These ultra-slimming pants are coming back in a chic way. Rock a casual look with a trendy cropped jacket and booties, or dress it up with a pair of simple black heels and a lace top. For guys this trend is great with a hoodie and a sleek pair of lace-ups.

On Top of Denim

For a nice casual outfit pair a denim top with nice pair of shorts and khakis but denim on denim is recommended.
Along with the black skinny jeans trends, jean tops and jackets can be found in stores everywhere. A denim jacket is great to just throw on in the morning when you’re running late for class. Best matched with a nice pair of cargos or a skirt, this versatile trend be dressed up or down.

Dressing for school is all about being cute and comfortable at the same time. The one of the best parts of school is
being able to express yourself through style. With these trends you’ll definitely be on everyone’s best dressed list
all year round.

Other Trends to Shop For
1.Lace
2. Lots and lots of polka dots
3. Crop Jackets
4. Plaid
5. Animal Print

Swapping Fashion

Last night was the first ever Swapping Spree of Seattle Consignment Boutique owner and Wardrobe Stylist Tannya Bernadette. Over the past 3 months I have had the opportunity to intern for her. The spree was held at Club Sur in Seattle's SoDo district. 55 fashionistas were invited to not only the swap but to take part in free massages, hair styling, and make-up.

The idea of the swap was that woman would bring in a certain number of items to be swapped and that same number would be however many times they would be able to take home. The swap it self was an amazing way to score great labels and designers such as Express, Ann Taylor, Betty Johnson, Coach, and Diane von Furstenburg. The great catch was that you could swap out 10 items for more name brand things when you purchased your ticket which was only $25. Tannya was genius for coming up with the concept.

As an intern my duties included the raffle (some raffle items were jewelry from Kate Bosworth's line Jewel Mint and coupons for Kim Kardashian's Shoedazzle). Also me and fellow Mountainview alumni Josh Pellow were in charge of setting up the swap. The best part of the Swapping spree was that all the clothes not used were donated to Seattle's Jubliee Woman's Store and all proceeds from the tickets when to help kids get scholarships for college. An event is always amazing when you can give back and shop. My favorite part was the amazing 17 items I got to add to my wardrobe.
