Internships Outfit and Ranting

So tomorrow I get to visit the Covington/Maple Valley Reporter to start working as an intern. I am quite excited because I might actually get to write stories for the paper. I'm extremely nervous because I don't know what wear. I didn't know if I should dress up or just wear jeans and a nice top. Remembering that first impressions mean everything I'm hitting a fashion road block. And after my meeting with one the editor i have to got Multi-care to meet get my eyes checked. I guess I'll wear my lucky skinny jeans with my studded blazer from Forever21.

New Year! New Inspiration!

Now that 2010 is winding down I've been thinking of my resolutions. Each year I create a life guide with fashion and beauty articles. It's my own way of trying to create a better me. I feel like 2011 is going to be a year of finding out about myself and where my priorities lie. 2010 went by so fast and I feel like I haven't made much of an impact. This year I want to commit to my resolutions. I feel like I've let other peoples perceptions create who I am and what I think of myself. In the fashion world there's no room for insecurity. I want to be the bitch that people would never expect not the crazy ass girl that everyone remembers from Kentwood and Mattson. I want to be the girl who has the experiences that everyone wishes they had (FASHION WEEK). The new Tishayla is focused and ready to make a name for myself in fashion and as a regular everywhere else I go in the world. I want to be the Tishayla everyone remembers no matter where I go. Fashion risks and hard work will be what gets me to Teen Vogue or Elle Magazine.

Seventeen Mag's Style Star 2010

As every Seventeen reader knows the December issue is always a recap of all the biggest style moments for the year. The lucky girl who wins the coveted honor always get to grace us with her presents on the cover. This years lucky winner is no one other than Ms. Taylor Swift. I personally don't care for her much anymore especially after the random VMA's performance about Kanye West with the old fashion TV. I never really particularly was a fan of her style. She dresses like a regular high school girl. Now some may consider that a good thing but I feel like her warobe is lacking some pizazz. Other than her decorative concert dresses with glitter detailing everywhere I think her everyday outfits are just boring. Maybe adding some edge to her might do the girl some good. Other than straighting your hair once in blue moon try some studs or something. And on that note Speak Now in my eyes is just Fearless Part. 2!!!!

Polyvore Virtual Closet

About 3 years ago my really good friend Shannon introduced me to website called Polyvore. In my definition it's a stylist's dream. You can create your own looks for celebrities and friends with everything from Vera Wang wedding dresses to vintage sunglasses. It's easy to create your own looks and layouts. For people who get into it as much I have its kinda like creating your open fashion publication and photo shoots. It's every fashionista dream. You simply type anything like "green prom dresses" and you'll find pages of items to pick from. As an aspiring Fashion Editor, Polyvore is a great way to broaden your horizons with different designers and style looks. I would recommend it to anyone who just simply loves fashion.

Fashion Internships and etc.

For the last 5 weeks I've emailing anyone in the Seattle fashion scene who's email I can get a hold of. I want to get more feel for the fashion industry before I take a leap of faith into it during college. I've been looking internships or volunteering at boutiques and fashion shows around the King County area. I got some emails back for working at Seattle Fashion Week but hopefully something else great comes up. I'm hoping and praying especially before I start doing college essays I can get a name for myself before NY!!!!!!! I will be working with the Covington Reporter as of yesterday! I'm mondo excited hopefully next year i can intern at The Seattle Times

Rings and Silver Bells

So everywhere I've gone for the past two weeks everybody I know has been rockin rings on every finger. I've always been a ring person but the most I've ever sported at one time was 1 or 2. But people have been mixing golds, silver, diamonds, and cocktail rings and I think it's fabulous. I know isn't really anything new but its first time I've noticed it since my mom did it back in the nineties. Maybe its just looks bad ass idk but know I'll be collecting rings instead of nail polish.

Earmuffs!?!

Yesterday while coming home from volunteering at the library I noticed that the lady sitting across from me on the bus was sporting a pair of earmuff. I didn't know this was something that was worn by adults but as I start researching them online I realize they are actually quite common winter wear. I haven't rocked a pair since I was probably the age of 6 but their quite a differ from the knit hats we've scene on celebrities for years now. They come in a variety of different colors and prints but I've been eying a pair of plaid UGG ones that I found on the Nordstrom website. Living in the state of Washington I think only Seattle or Bellevue woman could rock the look but hey you don't have to be from Manhattan to keep your eyes from turning red with style.

Classic Converse

Many may love Nike's or Jordan's but my tennis shoes of choose are Chuck Taylor's. Just about everybody I know young or old has a pair Converse. The black classic low or high tops haven't gone out of style since their making in 1908. Most trends surpass in a few years but these bad boys have stood their ground for 102 years. I love wearing them on lazy days with my lucky skinnies and an oversize off the shoulder sweatshirt. But my question is there any one out of billions that don't like Chuck Taylor's. I wonder if a surveys ever been taken. They come in all styles from sequined to neon green so their would be no reason for someone not like them.

Teen Vogue's Young Fashion Listen

Everyday I get fashion updates from blogs, newspapers, and magazines in email and today I got an email with a link to Teen Vogue's fashionista list. I personally was expecting Emma Watson to #1 but MTV Host Alexa Chung was. I'm not knocking the ladies fashion but I thought they should have gotten someone more influential in my opinion like Rihanna. I've not really like any Britain natives except Sienna Miller but whatever helps float your UK boat. I will say I'm also was disappointed the Emma Roberts got 2nd. What is the fashion world coming to.

Seattle Fashion Week

While on my DECA trip to Bellevue I went to fashion and career class. The guest speaker was a woman named Mrs. Olson who runs the Retail Management Program at the University of Washington. I was emailed her to see if it was possible to take the program while I major in Journalism and Marketing. After talking for I bit she asked me if I would be interested in being involved in Seattle Fashion Week. I felt like my heart was going to fall out of my chest. I'm waiting for her to reply back but I'm so excited. It's better than Christmas. This could help launch my fashion journalism career.

Christmas and Fashion Trends

I love X-mas time. I could say its the best time off year but being 17 years old I feel a little too old to make a x-mas list. Relating this dilemma to fashion each year I look at the upcoming trends of the coming year and add them to my list. Lace and 60's attire a definitely on the forefront. For spring cat glasses are the way to go. 60's is my favorite fashion era(I think I found the topic for my next post). But should I shop for them on my own like a "big girl"?!

My Fair Booties

Now that it's offically winter in the state of Washington, my footwear will probably consist of moslty boots. Boots are a must have for any fashionista's closet but what kind of boots look best. Personally because of my lack of heel confidence i'm sticking to my brown buckled riding boots I purchased in September. Tucking my jegging in them with a nice top from Forever 21 and I ready to head to high school. I'm thinking of retiring my beloved uggs what a sad day.

Fashion At the Gym!

I've become a recent member at my local LA Fitness. Working out has always been a great stress reliever of mine. This morning I saw this stylish Blond haired woman two treadmills down from me. Out of all the people in the entire building she was the most fashion forward. I was simply wearing an old Alabama State tee shirt, old ratty sweats and my black painted converse. Since I'm typically the kind of person who works out at home I never felt any reason to even lok half decent. Now that I'm once again a gym member I began wondering how to look cute while working out. Like I usually do when I'm fashion stumped I search for celebrity outfit inspiration. I came across this blog entry where it explained what outfit goes best with your body type. Spandex pants and plain tee's are the route I'm going. The best ways to dress up a gym outfit are with cute shirts, running shoes, bags and headbands. Whatever way works best for yoou. It also wouldn't hurt to throw on some of your favorite mascara.

Devil Wears Prada Book to Movie

I remember when I first saw the preview for the movie "The Devil Wears Prada", me and my friend Korinna were in the movie theater and as soon as Anne Hathway walked into the office of Runway I knew it was going to be my new favorite movie. So I read the book after like millionths time watching the film because I wanted to see how different Andy was in the book. Like every book that's turned into a movie many important parts and characteristic are left out but the only time I noticed this was when I watched Twilight. Not to get me wrong I love the movie, in my opinion they are like to completely different things. Andy in the book doesn't seem so dorky and smokes cigarettes. Now that I finished the book I kinda like the novel a little better. I think its cool reading and watching the behind the scene actions at a magazine. Hopefully someday I can walk in the Jimmy Choo's of Emily or Andy.

My Problem With Men And Lounging Gear!!!

So I talked about my men clothing dilemmas a lot before on this blog but I've noticed this fashion epidemic amongst young men around the country maybe even the world. Every time I see these items on a man it makes me cringe. Every guy I know owns at least 4 pairs of basketball shorts, a pack of plain wife beaters, and last and least those damn annoying slide on athletic sandals. To some men this may be the ideal outfit of choice but it bothers the hell out me. It flabbergasts me every time I see some guy in these pairs of clothing. Being a guy seems to be the easiest thing in the world so way is it so hard to just throw on jeans and a casual tee. To some it may seem as if I'm going overboard but If I have been been a dress in heels, a man should at least be in a button down or some khaki's.

No School School For Me!!!

So I've almost completed my 2010-2011 "Fashion Guide" and I was wondering If there really was a reason for me to go school shopping this year. Pretty much every fall and winter trends is are already stored away in closet. I think the only real thing I'm missing from my wardrobe is something "Military Inspired". This trend always seems to reappear every so often. Navajo (Tribial or Indian Influenced) and Large "Grunge Sweaters" seem like their easy to find but I don't know where to find any army influenced things. The best school fashion purchase I've made in a long time was a pair of faux leather gray boot from Charlotte Russe. These amazing 3 in 1 boots are so unconventional. You can wear them above the knee, mid calf, or ankle lengths. This makes it so easy to switch up outfits with only one pair of shoes. Now that my guide is almost complete now all there is left to do is just to find a outfit for the first day.

Airport Dilemma

I'm leaving for vacation this Wednesday. I'm visiting my home state of Virginia to see family I haven't seen in almost 8 years. I having the hardest time deciding what to wear. I have two flights one is 8 hours to Atlanta, the next is from Atlanta to Richmond. I want to do my best to stay both comfortable and stylish. I was thinking of wearing an oversize tee shirt and leggings. Or maybe I'll dress as if I'm going to the gym. Idk hopefully I think of something.I do overall want to make a good first impression.

School Preparation

So school is right around the corner which gives us students a chance to recreate ourselves. All the drama and failures of the previous year have been put away along with yearbooks. So even though its just now august I've started preparing for the up coming school year. This year is my Junior Year which is supposedly the hardest year of high school. In preparation I created a 2010-2011 school year fashion, make-up, and lifestyle guide. I'll admit the project was partly just something keep me busy but it actually turned into something really fun. I went through all my old magazines and collected everything that would help me with outfit and make-up ideas. Okay so part of my reasoning was to prevent myself from wearing sweats. This year I hope to come into my own style, oh and also to get good grades=)

Cheaper than Teen Vogue

So I was flipping through the pages of the august issue of Teen Vogue with Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas on the cover. In the glossy pages of next months mag the "Camp Rock" stars are decked head to toe in jean. The August 10' issue features the latest trends in denim. While shopping I came across jean jackets that resemble the ones in Vogue to "T". Denim button downs and jackets seem to be in so I figured why spend $69 on Demi's DKNY jacket when I can get the look for less from Bargain World. If I've learn one thing from fashion its that its not always labels and price tags.

Guys with Good Fashion???

Since I take my fashion very serious wouldn't it be common sense to only date guys with good fashion sense. The other day I was watching Sonny With Chance and I saw the gorgeous actor named Brandon Mychal Smith who plays Nico Harris. Other than his amazing smile he had the most amazing sense of style that I had ever seen on a man(let alone a teenage boy). I know the show has stylists and stuff like that but I've seen him dress for red carpet events and he's a sharp dresser. Most guys are confined to basketball shorts and wife beaters. I ask myself this question all the time. Why is it that most men don't take clothing choices seriously? Even the least attractive man could up his hottest factor by trading his "White Tee" for a plaid button.

Cute in Sweatpants???

So I've always noticed that some girls look really cute in sweats. My definition of comfort is pair of loose fitting jeans and a college tee shirt. When it comes to just lounging around the house sweatpants, boxers, and basketball shorts are my go to bottoms but I have the hardest time wearing them in public. Miley Cyrus and Vanessa Anne Hudgens always look stunning in their Victoria Secret Pink sweats but even in those I don't think i look good. I think I have some preconceived notion in my head that to look cute I must looked like I stepped of the streets of 5th avenue. Occasionally I'll build up the courage to wear them to school or to the grocery store. Most people might find it ridiculous that I'm not comfortable in sweats but I'll stick to my yoga pants instead.

Faking It!!!!!

So I've always had kind of a straight up-down body. No matter the type of clothes I try wearing I always seem to have the figure of an 8 year old boy. About a year ago I started seeing the cinch waist trend on many different body types. This was the answer to all my body's prayers. Since then I've been collecting waist belts to give me the appearance of curves. The belts give the appearance of hips but I still keep my athletic frame. Today while at the thrift store with my bud Brandy I came across a cute loose fitting navy blue sweater-dress. The way it feel over my body was not flattering at all so I came up with the idea to cinch the middle with an old looking belt. I found a perfect green one with a golden cowboy inspired buckle. It gave my body the best illusion of an hourglass shape. Now I'm not saying theres something wrong with not having curves but we could use more of them.

Big Decisions

So every summer I spend most of my time evaluating what'[s coming up in my life. Sophomore year went by so quickly and now I'm nervous about junior year. This year grades are most important and what colleges I'm looking into. I wonder what school I'll be attending. I'm trying not to stress but the only thing I want first and for most is to go back to KW!!!!!!
